# The Forces

The forces are pretty much important, without them Avelis and gods wouldn't have exsisted. Oh and you neither.

### **The Making**

Before there was the world, there was the Void. Within the Void there was only formless energy, moving gently through the endless ocean of nothingness. Beyond The Void there was Avadal, The Green Mountain, and Galdal, The Barren Rock.

Before time began, there were three Giants of Galdal; Rok, Borun, and Volla. These giants roamed through the voids and planes, consuming all that crossed their paths. When they came to the fledgling world of Avelis it was nothing more than oceans and magic which would provide a tasty morsel for three giants.

However their feast was short lived as Rayel took his lasso of flame and subdued the giants. Unable to kill them, he called upon Certis, who put them in an everlasting slumber, and Talliah who turned their flesh to earth. All that was left was their skeletons, protecting their still beating hearts, which pumped the blood of life into the world.

Certis shaped this blood into the minds of mortals, which would inhabit the world. Talliah created bodies for them, shaping their varying forms out of the newly made earth. Fen leaned down to breathe life into their eyes, and Ayul pressed a hand to their hearts, claiming each one for Avelis the world they had created.

Yovia asked the Forces to pledge to protect these stewards of Avelis, but there were three who would not. Avari insisted that these mortals would only spoil the world, and ruin even the deep and secret places they had built. Rayel insisted that they could not know Avaari was wrong, that there would not come a day when the mortals would need to be stopped. Odila stayed silent, and would not say a word.

And so it was agreed that the Forces would each make Gods to guide the world. These Gods were placed among the mortals and given powers which would allow them to tend to Avelis and its stewards. Each was given a purpose, a driving idea, which would fuel all that they did. But not all the Forces created Gods to help mortals. Avari made Gods which would safeguard the land. Rayel made Gods who would keep the mortals occupied with quests for glory, and whispers for infighting, so they could not stand against him. Odila would not say what their Gods were made for, just smiled, and whispered their purposes deep into their cores.

Only Yovia abstained, for they saw the Forces already fracture the dream of the land they had created. They remained on high, and would only observe.
