# Book Notes

*Disclaimer: This didn't happen in the campaign, but it's a small detail that you might have forgotten. **Estra only has foxes, griffins and quokkas.** This part happened between Fang Lake and Briar Glen.*

The four walk through the open forest. Rays of sunshine fall on the grass and animals hop and walk around. Ashe is fully in her element as she closes her eyes and takes a deep inhale. Methe turns around. “Goddess?” She says questionably. The woman slowly opens her golden colored eyes, smiles and signs, “it feels like home. It feels like the great forest.” A weak smile appears on the fighter’s face. “I’m glad that it does, my goddess.” She says. A sudden scream catches Methe and Ashe off guard. Both women turn towards Cedric and Falner. The Air Genasi is pointing and yelling at a small white animal with huge ears and the dragonborn laughs. Methe feels uncomfortable with the small fluffy animal. “What’s that?!” Cedric screams. Falner continues to laugh, through his laughter a few words come out; “it’s just a rabbit.” The bard feels like the victim in this situation, but the fright on the rabbit’s face from the loud sounds makes Falner laugh even more. Vixen and Sparky who also hadn’t seen a rabbit in their life before start screeching and barking at it, making the rabbit run away. Out of pride Vixen’s tail starts wagging saying; “I chased the predator away.” Sparky on the other hand tries to chase the poor fluffy animal, but Methe holds him back. “We have to continue to Fang Lake.” She snarls. Cedric who still looks frightened agrees and starts walking, Falner shrugs but follows the bard. Ashe looks at Methe with a worried look. “Everything will be fine.” She mumbles with a weak smile. “Everything will be fine.”

*Disclaimer: partially happened, partially didn't. This is from end chapter 13 after the party defeated Melava. And Methe explains who they are.*

“Melava is Torva’s daughter. Thus far Torva has three children.” Cedric thinks out loud. “Let’s hope it’s not more.” Ashe signs. Falner, Methe and Diamond check up on the hostages if everyone is okay. King Abaasi walks towards Cedric. “You guys were amazing. I see you still have the key?” The bard gives a firm nod. “It’s hard to get up there. Even I, with a blessing of Rove, cannot get up there.” Cedric weakly smiles. “Will you trust me?” He asks. King Abaasi nods. Cedric gives the key back and makes King Abaasi lightweight and pushes him from below his feet up to the ceiling. He flawlessly puts the key in the keyhole and the sound of running water returns. Even from the inside, they could hear the people outside celebrate. Cedric undid the spell and the king slowly fell to his feet. “I want to thank you all. As a gift, you can all stay in my quarters. Can I know your names?” Methe steps towards the king and places her hand firmly on his shoulder. “We are the guardians. And our duty is to protect.”

*Disclaimer: We went over this very quick. made it longer so it creates angst. Almost none of this happened, but storywise it's nice.*

Ashe hears a faint yelling from the hallway. While she hears that she misses her spell. She shakily breathes out and turns around to see what’s happening. Meryl and Lady Nylara stand there. Meryl has tears in her eyes and keeps calling out for Ashe, while Nylara holds her back trying to get her daughter to safety. Clattering of metal slashing against metal fills the room. Ashe’s golden eyes keep being locked on the woman and the child. A sudden grunt from Cedric gets her back to reality. Ashe casts a bolt towards Lorea to get The Slayer away from her guardian. Ashe then quickly runs up to Methe to tend her wounds. But in a quick flash she sees an ocean blue dress go by. “Meryl! Come back!” Lady Nylara yells out. But Meryl doesn’t give single response. Cedric braces himself for a hit in his gut, but all what Ashe knows is that whatever she’ll do, it will be too late. Meryl, the young satyr girl, the girl that lost her parents in the pirate attack, the girl she and Nylara took care of, the girl that fell asleep on Cedric’s shoulder, was going to get herself hurt. Ashe stood up and dashes towards Cedric and Meryl, only to be too late. Lorea’s sword goes through Meryl’s chest. Blood spatters around, only for Meryl to say, “I saved your friend, mom.” Lorea pulls her sword away and dashes up to Methe. More metal clattering filled the room. Nylara looks from a distance at Ashe, who carried Meryl’s body on her lap. Many times Ashe’s hands glow golden, tears rolling down her cheeks. Cedric kneels next of his goddess. “Meryl come back. You have to stay.” Ashe’s hands are shaking as she signs it. Shortly after she tries to heal the girl again, but two hands wrap around Ashe’s hands. It was a soft touch. Ashe looks up, hear face filled with tear streaks. “She’s not coming back.” Cedric mumbles. The Goddess starts sobbing, and all Cedric does is embrace Ashe. Eventually the sound of a sword clattering on stone fills the room, and later a thud. Falen gently collets his sister, and sighs wearily. “I wish you all the best, and I’m sorry for the losses from today.” He then disappears into black smoke. Lady Nylara walks closer towards Ashe and Cedric, followed by Krinor, Falner and Methe. The noble elf squads down and places a hand on Ashe’s shoulder. “I wanted to stop her. I really did, but-” “Just leave her.” Methe says. Ashe’s shaky hands go up. “Don’t go…” She signs. “I won’t go. I will stay.” Nylara sits on her knees and hugs Ashe from the side. Both Krinor and Falner look heartbroken at the sight. Cedric slowly stands up and steps away, next of the others. “Should we..?” Cedric starts. “If there’s one thing I have always learned, it is to never leave the people who lost someone.” Krinor says. Falner nods. “We should stay here in this room, but give them some space.” A soft “alright” escapes Cedric’s throat. Falner, Methe and Cedric walk towards a table. While Krinor kneels down next of Ashe’s other side. “She’s in a better place now.” Krinor softly speaks before he puts his hands in a praying position and mumbles soft words like a prayer. Nylara’s bright blue eyes look at the blonde elf. “What are you doing?” One of Krinor’s eyes open and look up at the noble lady. Nylara’s eyes are swollen and red, yet its bright blue color was still visible. “I used to do this whenever an animal died that I dearly loved. But I thought I could also pray for people. I didn’t know Meryl well, but she sounded like she was caring. She was very brave today.”

*Disclaimer: Dit is een klein stukje van hoofdstuk 15, op verzoek van Mel krijgen we ook stukjes van Axilya in het boek*

She never liked the silence, she liked the birds chirping in the morning, the rustling of the leaves, the barking of the foxes, the sounds her flute made when she played on it. But all of that is gone. A soft sniff fills the room, the only sound that was heard for a while. It was probably after thirty minutes the door opened again. Axilya doesn’t even look up, instead she turns her head away. Falen, who leaned against the doorframe has a worried look on his face. “Do you want to go out?” He eventually asks. But Axilya doesn’t answer. “Winter is my favorite season.” Falen now walks into the room. “It’s the season my sister was born.” “That’s nice I guess.” Axilya mumbles. “Neelia had cared for me for as long as I can remember. Since my father never even bothered to look after me, she did.” Falen’s words are soft spoken as he sit against the wall with the paintings. “She made me food, we played games in these halls, and she took me outside. That was until she started to get sick.” Axilya’s head turns towards the demigod. “She was sick?” “Yeah, occasionally poisoned by Torva. Kastra isn’t fun to deal with. Especially at such a young age.” “Kastra, as in the poison that mortalized Kai?” Axilya asked. “Oh, you’ve heard of that. Well, that was a few years after Neelia disappeared in Dissite’s flames.” Falen’s tone saddened. “What happened after she disappeared?” Axilya’s eyes wandered to the plate in front of her. “No one knows. I just ran back here. I was merely a kid.” Falen swallowed. “I just hope she’s somewhere safe. I have hoped that for 1200 years.”

The hawks keep screeching; "traitor." Methe and Cedric look up to the birds and look at Falner. "This is not the first time that traitor is thrown amongst our group." Falner looks back at the guardians with his pale blue eyes and then raised his hands when Methe stares at him. "I am not a traitor. Why would I be?" The fighter squints her eyes after something on Falner's right hand catches her eye. She steps towards him and grabs his wrist. "What's this?!" Methe's tone is loud and clear. "A scar from when I was younger." Falner answers. "You didn't have this when we met you." Falner pulls his hand back. "I always hid it. I just cut myself on a sword when I was younger." "Liar." Methe mouths. Falner wraps his other hand around his wrist. "I am not a traitor. And if I were, let Huginn himself strike me down." Suddenly the ground starts rumbling and shaking. Many boars and hawks cross the forest. And then a loud swishing sound fills the ears of the guardians. All of them cover their ears, and all what Methe does is glare at Falner.
